Weather.com has partnered with agricultural products firm Monsanto to roll out a new channel designed to provide customized weather information for farmers.

The new Weather.com/farming provides information on weather patterns that may have impact on crops and soil such as high winds and hail. Executives at Weather.com say the section will go beyond typical forecasts by providing more detailed information on expected precipitation levels. In addition, more information on historical weather patterns is also available to users.

For example, on Wednesday (Jan. 7) the section warned of a “freeze risk” in parts of New Jersey over the next few days.

Monsanto, which markets products such as genetically enhanced seeds and crop safe herbicides, currently is running oversized banners within the new section. The company is scheduled to promote several of its various brands throughout 2009, said officials.
